Fund Raising for Cancer Research

Gayle Shaw was a great supporter of Ringette. She saw the joy & fun that Ringette brings to so many of us, and worked tirelessly to ensure her daughter, teammates, and future generations of Elite athletes had opportunities to develop their skills and experience, and create amazing memories at the same time.  At the Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day, the ERC celebrates her legacy and we invite all Edmonton & area Ringette athletes to come out and have some fun! Gayle was taken from us fighting cancer, so we find it only fitting that we raise funds for cancer research - and to show our support for victims of cancer while playing the game that Gayle loved so much.  There is no cost for athletes to register for the Fun Day, but we do ask participants collect donations for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

2019: $12,006.15

The Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day took place on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at West Edmonton Mall.  It was another huge success as $12,006.15 was raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation.  After several mini-games played by all ages from U10 and up, including players from the Edmonton WAM! of the National Ringette League, the day ended with a close inter-squad U16AA/U19AA game.  Thanks to everyone who organized the event and who raised funds!

2018: $8104.00

The 2018 Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day was a great success again.  It was a fun day of ringette and we showcased our great sport ending with an inter-squad game with the U16AA’s and U19AA’s.  The game ended in an 11-11 tie. More importantly, $8104 was raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Thank you all for your support of this great cause.

2016: $13,300.00

Our six teams of ringette players raised over $13,300 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation making the 2016 Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day a fabulous success again.  It was a fun day of ringette and we showcased our great sport ending with an inter-squad game with the U19AA’s and WAM!  Thank you all for your support of this great cause, and special thanks to all our volunteers!
