The Edmonton Ringette Club organizes the Edmonton Elite AA teams at the U14AA, U16AA and U19AA levels, and the Edmonton WAM! in the National Ringette League.

 EXPECTATIONS OF ERC ATHLETES

BE SELFLESS – act in the best interest of your team and your teammates first; this may include understanding if you are not selected to go out for a particular shift or other critical times; think of team goals and how you can contribute to them

COMPETE and PERSEVERE – never give up, give your best effort, set goals for yourself that will help you contribute to the team’s goals

RESPECT – respect your coaches’ decisions and the time they volunteer; respect your teammates, officials and other athletes

DISCUSS don’t complain – have a discussion about questions/issues you might have with your coaches and teammates rather than just complaining; ask questions; problem solve;

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY – mistakes happen to everyone – take responsibility for your actions;

BE POSITIVE – on the bench, in the dressing room and generally – recognize that no one is perfect, support and encourage your teammates, commend them on a nice play, visualize success!

BE PREPARED – check your equipment and make sure that your skates are sharpened, prepare yourself mentally for games and practices, arrive on time

COMMIT – make as many team practices and games and events as possible – don’t let your team down!

EXPECTATIONS OF ERC COACHES

To communicate effectively with players and parents
Be prepared for practices and games
To develop the team and also individual development of each athlete
Treat players, parents, other teams, referees and other coaches with respect and overall model good sportsmanship
Provide constructive feedback in a timely and respectful fashion; give an appropriate balance of positive and negative feedback
Recognize the contributions of each player and help them understand their role on the team
To show positive leadership through his/her actions and help create a positive team environment
Hold players accountable who do not abide by good sportsmanship, team play, and attendance at practices
Playing time of athletes will be based on game performance, attendance and effort in practices and games, punctuality, and attitude


The Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day took place on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at West Edmonton Mall.  It was another huge success as $12,006.15 was raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. After several mini-games played by all ages from U10 to WAM, the day ended with a close intersquad game. (U16 and U19)

2020 AWG


CONGRATULATIONS!! to Edmonton WAM! athletes Dailyn Bell, Jamie Bell, Annie Debaji, Gillian Dreger, and Melissa Misutka, selected to be on the Senior National Team and Torrie Shennan selected to be on the Junior National Team.  The teams competed at the 2019 World Ringette Championships in Burnaby, BC, from November 25 to December 1, 2019.  The Junior Team won gold over Finland!


ERC Annual Awards

The ERC awards three $1000 scholarships each year to members attending post-secondary institutions. Congratulations to this year’s recipients: Katie Zipp, Justine Kearney and Ciara Wright 

Congratulations to Caleigh Shaw Wojcicki who was awarded the Kevin Harrison Volunteer Award  presented to an ERC member who has provided outstanding contribution and volunteer service.


 

Congratulations to our U19AA team who made it to quarterfinals at the Canadian Ringette Championships in PEI after a 6-2 record in round robin play. 


 Edmonton WAM! finished the season first overall in the Western Division of the National Ringette League with 19 wins over 24 games and also had the highest winning percentage 0.813 in the League!

Edmonton Elite U19AA finished the season first overall in Black Gold League and won the bronze medal at Provincials in Calgary!

Congratulations and best of luck at the NRL Championship and the Canadian Ringette Championships in Charlottetown, PEI!

WAM! Boot Camp

 4 Nights – August 17th to 20th, 2020

at Castledowns Arena

The WAM! Boot Camp is open to players from U10 to U19. It is focused on getting you back on the ice and prepared for the new ringette season.

The 2018 Gayle Shaw Memorial Fun Day was a great success again.  It was a fun day of ringette an showcasing our great sport with an inter-squad game with the U16AA’s and U19AA’s.  The game ended in an 11-11 tie! More importantly, $8104 was raised for the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Thank you all for your support of this great cause.

The ERC would like to congratulate those athletes selected for Team Alberta for the Canada Winter Games to be held in Red Deer in February 2019. In particular, congratulations to the following former and current ERC athletes: Kaley Bilyk, Ali Keylor, Nicole Pelletier, Megan Riou, Torrie Shennan and Katie Zipp.


Edmonton Elite U19AA won the U19AA team sportsmanship award at the Calgary Ring-It-On Tournament September 28-30, 2018.

CONGRATULATIONS! Torrie Shennan, Megan Riou, Nicole Pelletier, Kaley Bilyk, Ali Keylor, Katie Zipp and Justine Kearney for being invited to the next round of tryouts for Team Alberta for Canada Winter Games and to Team Alberta for winning Gold at the Coast 2 Coast Tournament in Nova Scotia.

 



WAM! Takes Silver

Edmonton WAM! achieved Silver at the 2018 Canadian Ringette  Championships.

Congratulations also to Lindsay Brown and Brea Beck who were named to the NRL All-Star team and to Nicole Pelletier who was named to the U19 All-Star team!


Zone 6 Edmonton Team Takes Gold
at Alberta Winter Games

Congratulations to the Zone 6 players and coaches for winning GOLD.  The team swept through the competition undefeated.
