EDMONTON RINGETTE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
The Edmonton Ringette Club (ERC) awards up to three (3) scholarships annually to ERC players. Two (2) scholarships are designated for players currently attending an accredited post-secondary educational institute; one (1) is designated for players entering an accredited post-secondary educational institute during the next Ringette season. The ERC scholarships are valued at $1,000 each.
The ERC scholarships will be awarded to individuals who have a strong commitment to Ringette, have demonstrated an understanding of the meaning of team work, and have longevity with the Edmonton Ringette Club. Academic performance will also be part of the selection criteria.
To be eligible for the ERC scholarship, players must:
Be a member in good standing of the Edmonton Ringette Club
Be attending an accredited post-secondary institution taking a minimum of three courses or 10 hours of course work each week either a) currently OR b) next season
Be currently playing on an ERC team
Have a strong commitment to Ringette and the ERC
Have a good academic record
Have not been awarded the ERC Scholarship more than once
How to apply
Each candidate shall supply to the Selection Committee the following:
A letter outlining what the game of Ringette means to you and how it has helped you develop as a person. Maximum 750 words.
A listing of your history of involvement in Ringette in point form. Please include estimated number of hours for each activity (total hours or “per month”) plus brief description of duties.
A listing of your community volunteer activities in point form (including hours and brief description of duties).
A list of other scholarships or awards received for other sports, or any other reason during your post-secondary education. Please indicate the amount if monetary awards.
A letter of support from a Ringette coach (either current or former) outlining your commitment to the game of Ringette and describing your growth as a person. Maximum 500 words.
A letter of support from a Ringette teammate (either current or former) describing your contribution to the Ringette team. Maximum 500 words.
A copy of your most recent transcript.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 21, 2014.
Winners will be announced at the ERC Awards night in April 2014.
Funds will be provided to winners once proof of attendance at an accredited post-secondary institution is received in late 2014.
